In our busy lives today its precious to find those special things that just work perfectly.

At Sierra we have always laboured tirelessly to ensure that every cup of our coffee you experience is just that - perfect.

To date more than 12 million cups of Sierra coffee have been savoured by New Zealanders in this quest for perfection.


Our passion for creating the perfect cup was born during 1989 in travels in Europe. Central America and Hawaii, bringing back to New Zealand a vision to produce the best coffees in the world.

We sought out the most knowledgeable and experienced mentors to guide us in the subtle arts of roasting, blending and the preparation of coffee.

And when we were ready, we established the Sierra Coffee Co with a mission to create small batches of the most beautiful coffee by hand employing the time honoured secrets of the Roast Masters craft.

Creating the finest roasts requires special attention to detail and at Sierra our Master Roaster personally takes care of these details to deliver you perfection in every cup.

He has carefully selected only the best and most prized Arabica beans from the great coffee growing estates around the world, without regard to cost.

Then roasted these beans to that precise moment when they surrender their most desirable flavours and aroma.

Always in small, individual batch roasts and with an obsessive and loving care for the end result that you find in your cup.

At Sierra we prize above most else the craft of the coffee alchemist - our trained Barista’s.

These people own those arcane skills that convert the beans we lovingly roast into a beverage to delight your senses, to uplift and sustain you.

Sierra has adopted the traditional European form of the Barista arts and our people undertake this very significant role with appropriate ritual and a reverence for coffee excellence. We believe how seriously we take this important function is demonstrated most clearly by our commitment to make every cup of Sierra espresso just perfect.

Your espresso options are many and varied depending on whether your preference is for milk or not and mild or strong. Once you have identified just how you like your coffee our Sierra Barista’s will take a tangible personal pride in getting your cup right for you - perfect every time.

Our Sierra cafes use only the best espresso machines and grinders available. Manufactured in Europe and fastidiously maintained in order to provide the optimum product. Sierra Barista’s are thoroughly trained in the procedures that are required to fine tune their equipment and compensate for changing conditions - like regularly adjusting grinders to compensate for differing levels of daily humidity.
